Making Disciples in Chile
For the past year, former CFBC student pastor Julian Pizarro and his wife Jessica have been living in Santiago, Chile, representing the church planting arm of Champion Forest Baptist Church. Pastors Jared Richard and Ramon Medina spent all of last week in Santiago visiting Julian and seeing all of the great things that the Lord has been able to accomplish over the last year.
Within this year, the Lord has brought Julian nearly 20 people who would be willing to join him in planting the church. These people are committed to seeing the kingdom of God spread among the city’s population of over 6 million.
You can join us to pray in several ways! First, you can pray for this core team of 20 to solidify into a church plant. You can also pray for the group to find a worship location that is both culturally appropriate and able to sustain growth.
Finally, please join us as we pray for the Lord to pierce the darkness of this city with his light! Along with many places in South America, Santiago has a strong tradition of Roman Catholicism and works-based salvation. Pray that the people are able to see the truth of the grace of God, and trust in Jesus Christ.
The Lord is using CFBC to do great things all over the world, even in Chile. If you would like to learn more about our partnership there, please contact us in the Missions Office! 281-885-6705
Buckner Adoption and Foster Care
Do you and your spouse feel like the Lord might be calling you to provide an orphan with a Christian home? For years, Buckner Adoption and Foster Care has provided Christ-centered services for families looking to do just that.
A Buckner representative was with us this past Wednesday, and is coming back on July 1, 2015 at 6:45pm to share information for those interested in learning more about the adoption process or getting involved. Mark your calendar now, and be sure to call the Missions Office to sign up and get more details!
Round Rock Mission Testimony
One of the most wonderful things about being a missions-minded church is getting to see people grow in the Lord as they step out on mission for the very first time. Young adult Life Group member Jeremy Allison was able to join God on mission last month on the local mission trip to Round Rock, Texas. Jeremy gave his life to the Lord just over six months ago, and when he heard that there was an available mission opportunity, he was moved to sign up!
While in Round Rock, Jeremy was able to see The sovereignty of the Lord in choosing a mission team, “I did not know what to expect, I just knew I was supposed to go,” says Jeremy, “but I was amazed that the Lord knew exactly who would be on the trip with me, and what skills we would each have. I was amazed that there was a specific task that the Lord knew only I could fulfill.” This young man learned that the Lord’s only requirement is that we place our “yes” on the altar to come follow Him. “Regardless of our experience, He has invited us to further his kingdom on earth, and He is calling us to be obedient!”
If you feel that the Lord is calling you to go on mission with CFBC, or just to learn more about one of our many mission opportunities, call us in the Missions Office.
Serve Saturday Continues!
Thank you so much to everyone who braved the rain to come out and serve on Serve Saturday! We had a wonderful time, and despite the weather, the Lord used us all to impact our community in mighty ways! Each of the locations where we served was so grateful for our ministry, and many of them have opportunities for continuous service. In fact, several – especially the nursing homes – have called this week saying they enjoyed it so much that they would love for us to come back out soon!
If you, or your Life Group enjoyed serving in the Nursing Home Ministry on Serve Saturday and would like the chance to go out again, contact us in the Missions Office. We would love to place you in contact with one of the facilities and coordinate an activity for you. They are in need of groups to come and spend time with residents, lead Bible Studies for them, and hold events for them. Let us know if you would like to be involved!
