On Mission – March 2015

Serve Saturday 2015

serve saturday

It’s that time again – Serve Saturday 2015 is right around the corner! If you have been around for a while, you know this means that hundreds of CFBC volunteers will roll up their sleeves and “leave the building” to go to over 30 locations within our community and serve in the name of Jesus! This year is our fourth annual Serve Saturday, and is scheduled for Saturday, April 25 from 9am to 1pm
Last year we had over 600 volunteers from our church show up ready to serve at block parties, nursing homes, beautification projects, carwashes, and laundromats, as well as with our homeless ministry and in the homes of our homebound members. Because of our work, several people within our community came to know Jesus Christ!
This year, we are adding more locations and types of projects to the event.
On March 15, we will begin signups. You will be able to sign up in your Life Group, or at the Missions booth after the 9:30 worship service. We are looking forward to a great event this year – come join us as we carry the love of Jesus to the community around us!

Donations Needed

Looking for a place to take your leftover, gently – used clothing? Look no further! CFBC takes donations of both clothing and non-perishable food to distribute to ministries
that we partner with, like Mission Greenspoint, Mission Centers of Houston, and Champions for Hope. Clothing donations for Mission Greenspoint can be brought to the Mission
Greenspoint bin by the stairs across from the café in the AE building. Food and clothing donations for the Mission Center and Champions for Hope can be brought to the donation closet across from the FLC welcome desk.

Following His Lead – to Brazil

Scott – a member of CFBC’s Young Professionals Life Group – had been sensing the Lord calling him to go on a mission trip for over a year. Each time, Scott dismissed the call as one that he could not answer. As a college student, Scott knew that he could not afford the expense of a mission trip. However, as he learned more about our church’s partnership in Brazil, he was moved, and decided to step out on faith and turn in his application to the Missions department. Within a day, the Lord had impressed on the heart of someone in our church to donate the exact amount of Scott’s trip to the Missions department. The Lord provided, and he was able to go.
While in São Paulo, Scott taught Bible classes for children and shared his own story with people who
desperately needed to see the power of God on display. “If you know Jesus, then He is inviting you to join Him in reaching all people,” says Scott. “If you make yourself available to Him, He will make it possible for you to go where He is calling you!”
If you feel that the Lord is calling you to go out on mission with Him, don’t hesitate! Ask us how you can get involved!

If you know Jesus, then He is inviting you to join Him in reaching all people…If you make yourself available to Him, He will make it possible for you to go where He is calling you!

The Journey – Nearly 10 Years Later

Nearly 10 years ago, the Lord called a group of believers from northwest Houston to carry the gospel to the Seattle area. Soon after, The Journey Church was born in Mill Creek, WA. Throughout The Journey’s existence, CFBC has been blessed to be a partner in its growth, and we are able to invest in that community through our yearly Seattle Mission trip.
This year, we are seeing the Lord moving more than ever as The Journey Church has grown enough to kick off its own church plant in September!
Come join us as we return to Seattle in July to be on mission there! We will help them continue to reach into the unreached areas of their community through a VBS, Bible studies, and much more!
